Terry Martin

As I matured, I had the distinct honor of exhibiting my art with David Plank, Glen Chambers, and L.D. Schaperkotter.

The first real affirmation of my effort in art was a watercolor of a rainbow trout, painted from a still life I set up with a trout I caught next to my flyrod. That watercolor became the first Missouri trout stamp.

As a student at the University of Missouri and later as a professor at William Woods University, I gained a greater understanding of the formal aspects of design. Later, I illustrated a book called Fly Fishing: Trout Fishing in Missouri by Chuck and Sharon Tryon. In the process of illustrating for the book, complete with maps, I travelled around the state and saw all the streams and rivers.

My education paved the way to teach and continue learning about psychology, science, and art gallery management. I curated many exhibitions including an annual Best of Missouri Hands art and fine crafts exhibition. I am a life member of Best of Missouri Hands, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society, the International Experimental Artists Society, Missouri Watercolor, Midwest Pastel, and several art therapy programs.
